Making secure online payments with 3D Secure

Learn how the 3D Secure (Visa Secure) system works when using your Gnosis Card online. It outlines the OTP verification flow and provides troubleshooting advice for failed verifications and missing codes.

When you shop online with your Gnosis Card, an extra layer of security called 3D Secure (also known as Visa Secure or 3DS) helps protect you from fraud. This standard verification step for online payments ensures it’s really you making the purchase by verifying your identity when the card isn’t physically present. Think of it as a digital PIN for your online transactions required by Visa and international regulations to add security and confidence when paying online.

When making a purchase on a website that supports 3D Secure, you’ll enter your card details as usual, then a secure verification pop-up will appear. A one-time passcode (OTP) will be sent via SMS to your registered phone number, which you’ll need to enter to approve the payment before the transaction is completed. If you don’t receive the OTP, check your mobile signal, use the “Resend Code” option if available, and confirm your phone number is up to date in your Gnosis App account. If your payment is declined after entering the code, the OTP may have expired, been entered incorrectly, or your card may be frozen in the app. Retry the payment carefully, check your card status, and contact support if the issue continues.

Warning : If you ever see a transaction you don’t recognise, immediately freeze your card in the Gnosis App and contact the support.
