Gnosis App uses passkeys to help you access your account and authorize wallet actions securely. A passkey is not a traditional password. It is stored on your device or password manager and is used to confirm that you are the person accessing your Gnosis App wallet.
Because Gnosis App uses a self-custodial wallet model, account access is different from a regular app login. Support cannot reset your passkey, recover it for you, or manually unlock your wallet.
What is a passkey?
A passkey is a secure login method stored on your device or in a password manager.
Instead of typing a password, you usually approve access with your device authentication method, such as Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, screen lock, or password manager confirmation.
In Gnosis App, your passkey helps you:
log in to your account
access your Gnosis App wallet
authorize wallet actions
protect your account from unauthorized access
Your passkey is not visible to Gnosis App support and cannot be recovered by the support team.
Why Gnosis App uses passkeys
Gnosis App uses passkeys because they are safer than traditional passwords and easier to use for self-custodial wallets.
Passkeys help reduce the risk of password leaks, phishing, and account takeovers.
However, this also means that keeping access to your passkey is important. If you lose access to your passkey and do not have a recovery method set up, you may not be able to recover your account.
Where your passkey is stored
Your passkey may be stored on:
your phone or computer
your browser profile
iCloud Keychain
Google Password Manager
another password manager
another synced device
If you cannot log in, your passkey may still exist somewhere else. Before starting recovery, check the device, browser, or password manager you originally used with Gnosis App.
“No wallet found for this passkey”
If you see “No wallet found for this passkey,” it usually means the passkey you selected is not linked to your Gnosis App wallet.
This can happen if:
you selected the wrong passkey
you are using another device
you are using another browser profile
you are using a different password manager
your passkey did not sync to the device you are using
you previously created more than one passkey
Try checking your original device, browser profile, or password manager. If you have multiple passkeys saved, make sure you select the one that was created for your Gnosis App account.
What to do if you changed device
If you changed phone, computer, browser, or password manager, your passkey may not be available on the new device automatically.
Before starting account recovery, check whether your passkey is available through:
your old device
your synced password manager
iCloud Keychain
Google Password Manager
your previous browser profile
another device where the same passkey may have synced
If the original passkey is still available, you may be able to log in without recovery.
Email recovery
Email recovery is a backup method that can help you regain access if your passkey is no longer available.
To use email recovery, you must have added a recovery email to your Gnosis App account before losing access.
If you did not add a recovery email before losing your passkey, email recovery is not available for your account.
Support cannot manually add a recovery email after you have lost access.
When email recovery can help
Email recovery may help if:
you lost access to your passkey
you changed or reset your device
your password manager no longer shows the passkey
your passkey did not sync to a new device
you cannot access the original device where the passkey was created
Email recovery only works with the recovery email already linked to the account.
When email recovery cannot help
Email recovery cannot help if:
you never added a recovery email
you no longer have access to the recovery email inbox
you are trying to use a different email
the account cannot be matched to the recovery email
you lost both your passkey and your recovery email access
If no recovery email was added before access was lost, Gnosis App cannot use email recovery to restore the account.
The 72-hour recovery period
Account recovery includes a 72-hour waiting period.
This waiting period is a security feature. It helps protect your self-custodial wallet from unauthorized recovery attempts.
During this period, recovery is not complete yet. You may need to wait until the full 72 hours have passed before the new access method becomes active.
After recovery is complete
After recovery is complete, your new passkey becomes the active access method for your account.
Your previous passkey may no longer work once the recovery process has finished.
Make sure the new passkey is saved properly on your device or password manager, and keep your recovery email up to date.
What support can and cannot do
Gnosis App support can help explain the recovery flow and guide you through safe checks. However, support cannot:
see your passkey
recover your passkey
reset your passkey manually
add a recovery email after you lost access
bypass the 72-hour waiting period
provide a private key for your Gnosis App wallet
unlock your self-custodial wallet manually
This is because your Gnosis App wallet is self-custodial and protected by your own access methods.
If you still have access to your account
If you can still access your account, make sure your recovery setup is ready before you need it.
You should:
confirm that your passkey is saved in your device or password manager
add or verify your recovery email
make sure you can access your recovery email inbox
avoid deleting passkeys unless you know they are no longer needed
be careful before resetting your device or changing password managers
Doing this now can help prevent account access issues later.
Security reminders
Never share your passkey, private key, seed phrase, wallet recovery phrase, PIN, full card details, or one-time code with anyone. Gnosis App will never ask you to provide these secrets in chat, email, social media, or a support conversation. Only use the official Gnosis App to log in or start account recovery.
