How Rep Score is calculated in Gnosis App ?

Learn about the new Rep score system implemented within Gnosis App.

Rep Score is a reputation signal in Gnosis App. It helps determine how much of your newly minted CRC can become spendable gCRC. A higher Rep Score means more of your newly minted CRC can become gCRC.

Rep Score is based on trust, participation, verification signals, and account behavior. It is not based on simply holding gCRC.

What changed

Rep Score has been updated to better reflect meaningful participation instead of passive balances.

The main changes are:

  • simply holding gCRC no longer increases your Rep Score

  • buying gCRC does not increase your Rep Score

  • receiving gCRC rewards does not increase your Rep Score

  • “good” spending is neutral

  • only harmful or suspicious spending behavior may reduce your Rep Score

  • card top-ups are treated as valid outflows

  • legacy score is no longer used

  • Rep Score updates much faster than before

These changes are designed to make Rep Score less dependent on passive balances and more focused on genuine trust signals.

Holding gCRC does not increase Rep Score

Holding, buying, or receiving gCRC does not increase your Rep Score.

This means your Rep Score will not go up just because:

  • you hold more gCRC

  • you bought gCRC

  • you received gCRC from rewards

  • your wallet balance increased

  • you keep gCRC in your own wallet

The self-holding effect is now removed. In simple terms, your own gCRC balance does not boost your Rep Score.

Spending is evaluated, not rewarded

Spending gCRC does not automatically increase your Rep Score.

Normal or useful spending is generally neutral. This means it does not boost your score, but it should not hurt your score either.

Examples of neutral activity can include:

  • using gCRC for Marketplace offers

  • using gCRC for card top-ups

  • receiving cashback earnings

  • normal app usage

  • ordinary spending behavior

The goal is not to reward every spend. The system is designed to identify whether activity looks healthy or harmful.

Card top-ups are valid outflows

Card top-ups are treated as valid outflows. This means topping up your card with gCRC is not considered bad spending by default and should not be treated as harmful behavior on its own.

A normal card top-up should not reduce your Rep Score simply because gCRC left your wallet.

What can reduce Rep Score

Rep Score may be affected negatively if activity looks harmful, artificial, or abusive.

This can include behavior such as:

  • activity designed mainly to extract value

  • suspicious circular transfers

  • artificial transaction patterns

  • behavior that looks automated or coordinated

  • attempts to manipulate reputation or rewards

  • spending patterns that do not look like genuine ecosystem use

Only harmful or suspicious spending behavior is penalized. Normal Shop activity, card top-ups, and ordinary app usage should not be treated as negative by default.

Legacy score is no longer used

The old legacy score is no longer part of Rep Score. This means previous legacy reputation signals, including the older relative trust score, no longer contribute to your current Rep Score. If your score changed, it may be because the system no longer includes those older score components.

You may notice a sudden decrease in your Rep Score. This is because the legacy boost has now been disabled and is no longer included in the calculation.

This change affects many users and does not necessarily mean that your recent activity had a negative impact on your score.

Faster Rep Score updates

Rep Score now updates much faster than before. In many cases, score updates can appear after roughly a couple of blocks. This means changes such as backer status or KYC-related boosts may show up almost immediately once the system has processed them. Some parts of the update process are still being finalized, so timing may still vary slightly.

Gnosis human account exclusion

The Gnosis human account is excluded from Rep Score boosts.

This means interactions or signals involving that account should not be treated as a source of reputation boosts.

Rep Score is meant to reflect meaningful trust and participation, not artificial boosts from special system or organizational accounts.

What still matters for Rep Score

Rep Score can still be influenced by stronger trust and participation signals.

These may include:

  • Gnosis group membership

  • mutual connections with trusted users

  • KYC-related signals, where available

  • backer status

  • healthy participation in the Circles ecosystem

  • avoiding harmful or artificial activity

Rep Score is designed to reflect trust over time, not short-term farming.

Rep Score and gCRC creation

Rep Score affects how much of your newly minted CRC can become spendable gCRC. For example:

  • Rep Score 0 means newly minted CRC does not become spendable gCRC.

  • Rep Score 50 means around 50% of newly minted CRC become gCRC.

  • Rep Score 100 means newly minted CRC become 100% gCRC.

Holding gCRC does not increase this score. Your Rep Score comes from trust and participation signals, not from your gCRC balance.
