Who provides my IBAN and Bank Transfer services?

This article gives an insight on which service provider gives access to IBAN and Bank Transfer.

While bank transfers are available through the Gnosis App, the underlying banking infrastructure is provided by a separate regulated financial institution. As a result, your IBAN and bank transfer services are not operated directly by Gnosis App.


Who provides my IBAN?

IBAN accounts and related banking services are provided by Monerium, a regulated electronic money institution.

When you use features such as:

  • Receiving funds via bank transfer

  • Sending funds to a bank account

  • Holding fiat-denominated electronic money

you are interacting with services provided by Monerium.


Why Didn't I Know I Had a Monerium Account?

The bank transfer experience is designed to be integrated directly into the app, allowing users to access banking functionality without needing to switch between multiple platforms or applications.

Because this experience is intentionally streamlined, many users may not realize that bank transfer services are provided by Monerium rather than Gnosis directly. However, the underlying account and regulatory relationship for these banking services remains with Monerium.


What is the difference between Gnosis App and Monerium?

The Gnosis App ecosystem and Monerium provide different services:

  • Gnosis provides the application experience, wallet infrastructure, card functionality, and access to supported ecosystem features.

  • Monerium provides regulated banking services, including IBAN accounts and bank transfer functionality.

As a regulated financial institution, Monerium is responsible for its own onboarding, compliance, and account eligibility requirements. Which is why, some user can be onboarded on Card but not for IBAN. More information on this article.


Why can I use my card but not Bank Transfers?

Card services and bank transfer services are separate products with different providers and regulatory requirements.

This means it is possible to:

  • Successfully use your card

  • Access your wallet

  • Continue using other app features

While still being unable to access bank transfer services if Monerium is unable to provide or maintain banking services for your account.

If your issue relates to:

  • IBAN accounts, onboarding or eligibility

  • Bank transfers : Fiat deposits or withdrawals
